Club unveils new soccer program The Soccer Program is a non-profit initiative by the Pensacola Samba Soccer Club to bring soccer to inner-city and underprivileged school children grades K-12. Utilizing local resources, the program exposes youngsters of limited means to the world’s most popular sport and its many benefits. The Samba tradition in Pensacola has brought top-flight training, nationwide travel opportunities, exposure to the nation’s Olympic development programs, and college scholarships to area youngsters over the years. Through hard work, discipline, fitness, teamwork and creativity, Samba players have been recruited to play for some of the most prestigious colleges in the nation -- including Harvard, Duke, and others. The non-profit Soccer Program is designed to bring those same opportunities to underprivileged youth in the area. The program coordinator is Pensacola Samba founder and coach Peter Stephens, who established the club in 1993. The Samba is a 503c non-profit corporation, and donations to the program can be made by clicking the DONATE button below or contacting coach Stephens. For more information about the program, contact coach Stephens at 850-316-7592. |
